Kurt was issued all of his licenses back after this race including CASC, SCCA, FIA, and IMSA without restrictions Kurt’s cancer was in his lower left leg and he subsequently lost the leg in August 1988. He has been cancer free ever since and he has designed and built a prosthetic that is used for the clutch. Kurt has NO impairments whatsoever in using the controls on a car or motorcycle. The prosthesis design has worked flawlessly for the past 15 years. 1988 Formula 2000 Championship Canada Kurt’s season was cut short due to the cancer. He was well in the lead to win the championship prior to his illness. He still finished 3rd overall even though he missed the last 3 races.
